Marvel’s new Disney+ series Ironheart is ready to bring a fresh twist to the MCU, and IGN has debuted an exclusive first look at the show during IGN Live 2025 in Los Angeles. The clip showcases Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), a brilliant but rebellious teen engineer, encountering Parker Robbins, also known as The Hood (played by Anthony Ramos), in a scene heavy with tension and temptation.
Riri, recently expelled from MIT for stealing parts to build her own iron suit, now finds herself facing a dark moral crossroads.
Robbins offers her a Faustian deal-technology versus magic-in what appears to be a central conflict of the series. Set in post-Wakanda Forever Chicago, the show blends gritty urban realism with supernatural undertones, something Marvel hasn’t explored much outside of characters like Doctor Strange or Moon Knight.
Ironheart doesn’t seem to aim for multiverse-breaking stakes like previous MCU entries. Instead, early glimpses hint at more grounded, character-focused storytelling. Think less Avengers: Endgame and more Smallville-weekly wins, local consequences, and personal growth.
Fans remain divided. While some criticize Riri Williams as poorly written in the comics and too arrogant, others are hopeful that this series-with the strong creative hand of Ryan Coogler and a diverse writer-director team-can redeem her on-screen and give her the depth she deserves.
Besides Thorne and Ramos, the cast includes Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White. Chinaka Hodge leads the writing team, with Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes directing episodes. The premiere is set for June 24, 2025, exclusively on Disney+.
Whether you’re a longtime Marvel fan or just curious about a new kind of hero, Ironheart is set to challenge expectations. Technology meets magic, ambition meets consequence, and the legacy of Iron Man meets the determination of a new mind in the Marvel universe.
