IWC Portugieser Tourbillon Rétrograde Chronograph: Limited Edition Luxury Watch

IWC has just launched the 2025 limited edition Portugieser Tourbillon Rétrograde Chronograph, a true masterpiece that brings together classic design elements with cutting-edge materials. This new model (ref. IW394009) introduces an obsidian-colored dial paired with a sleek case crafted from IWC’s proprietary Armor Gold, a special 18k rose gold alloy designed to be more wear-resistant and durable than traditional gold.

The piece is extremely limited, with only 100 examples available worldwide.

The new IWC Portugieser Tourbillon Rétrograde Chronograph features a 43.5mm diameter and a 15.9mm thickness. Its sophisticated design includes a flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock, a retrograde date indicator on the left, and a chronograph register at the 12 o’clock position for tracking elapsed minutes and hours. The dial’s sunburst finish is coated with 15 layers of lacquer, adding depth and radiance to its glossy black surface. The hour markers, hands, and printing are all gold-plated, complementing the luxurious Armor Gold case

. This model also showcases the in-house Caliber 89900 automatic movement, which includes a one-minute flying tourbillon, flyback chronograph, and retrograde date display, with a power reserve of 68 hours.

Unlike some of IWC’s more affordable Portugieser models, this limited-edition timepiece carries a hefty price tag of $145,000 USD, a reflection of its exclusivity and the intricate craftsmanship that went into creating it. This watch combines elegance with technical sophistication, offering a truly exceptional piece for collectors.

For those who want to own a piece of watchmaking history, the IWC Portugieser Tourbillon Rétrograde Chronograph is not just a timekeeper, but a statement of luxury, precision, and rarity.
