Jurassic World Evolution 3 Removes AI Portraits After Fan Backlash

Frontier Developments has reversed its decision to use generative AI for scientist portraits in Jurassic World Evolution 3 following fan backlash. The game, announced at Summer Game Fest 2025, had stirred excitement after a long wait, but this enthusiasm quickly soured when players discovered that AI technology had been used to create some of the in-game scientist portraits.

Fans were quick to express their concerns, rallying for the portraits to be made by human artists instead.

The movement gained traction, leading Frontier to respond on Steam, confirming that they would remove the AI-generated portraits. ‘Thanks for your feedback on this topic,’ the company said. ‘We have opted to remove the use of generative AI for scientist portraits within Jurassic World Evolution 3.’ This decision has been well received by the community, with many expressing relief that the game will feature art created by humans instead of artificial intelligence.

The change has already been reflected on the game’s Steam page, where the ‘AI Generated Content Disclosure’ notice is no longer present. This move has garnered praise from fans, with many looking forward to a more authentic experience in the game. One fan on Steam commented, ‘As a dev myself, this was wholly unnecessary from the start. I’m happy to see the pivot, and I’ll now buy at launch.’ Frontier also confirmed that the game will still be released on October 21, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.

In the meantime, discussions around AI in gaming continue, with other companies like Epic Games and Microsoft also incorporating AI into their titles. However, the focus for now remains on the decision to remove AI portraits from Jurassic World Evolution 3, a victory for fans who wanted the game to stay true to its artistic roots.
