The latest Jurassic World Rebirth trailer just dropped, and it’s as intense as it is revealing. Fair warning: some scenes in this preview skate dangerously close to spoiler territory – especially if you’re hoping to go in blind.
Directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One) and written by the original Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp, this new installment stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. The story follows an elite extraction team entering a hazardous island research facility – the last remnants of the original Jurassic Park – now overrun by its most lethal experiments.
The trailer introduces a terrifying new hybrid creature called the Mutadon, a horrifying cross between a pterosaur and a Raptor. One of the most chilling moments is a direct homage to the legendary Raptor kitchen scene: a young girl hiding in a freezer as the clawed foot of a Mutadon scrapes menacingly nearby. It’s horror meets nostalgia in the best (and worst) possible way.
Things only escalate when the trailer dives into a brutal encounter with aquatic Spinosaurs – complete with webbed feet and vicious underwater attacks. A character named Bobby is shown clinging to life as a Spinosaurus drags him off a boat. The look on his face says it all: if this guy survives, it’ll be nothing short of a miracle.
Jurassic World Rebirth hits theaters on July 2. Fans of the franchise and newcomers alike will want to keep their eyes on this one – if they can manage to peek through their fingers.
