Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Cinematic Cut to Premiere at Karlovy Vary Film Festival
The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will host the world premiere of a special cinematic cut of the upcoming medieval RPG, transforming the acclaimed title into a gripping movie experience.

The premiere will be held on July 9 at 7 PM in the iconic Kaiserbad venue in the Czech Republic, featured in the festival’s special screenings section. The move highlights a growing trend of narrative-rich games crossing into the world of film.

Festival artistic director Karel Och called the crossover a “powerful and gripping story captured in a unique manner,” praising the collaborative effort between the film world and gaming’s top creative minds. Meanwhile, Warhorse Studios will participate in a KVIFF Talk earlier the same day, with directors Daniel Vávra and Petr Pekař sharing insight into the adaptation process.

Warhorse CEO Martin Frývadlský expressed his long-standing wish to see the game on the big screen. “The civil story of a blacksmith’s son is one that can resonate deeply with film audiences too,” he said, highlighting the emotional power and realism that defines the Kingdom Come series.

The cinematic cut will focus on the game’s narrative core: set in Bohemia, 1403, a kingdom descending into chaos. Players-and now, viewers-follow Henry of Skalitz, a blacksmith’s son turned warrior, as he seeks justice for his slain family. Alongside nobleman Sir Hans Capon, Henry becomes entangled in a high-stakes diplomatic mission that spirals into dangerous quests testing loyalty, courage, and the meaning of honor.

This hybrid release marks a compelling moment where video games and film merge storytelling forces. With its cinematic approach, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II could open the gates for more narrative-heavy games to grace the big screen in festivals to come.
