Konami Unveils New Fox Hunt Multiplayer Mode for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Konami’s latest showcase, Konami: Press Start, gave fans a deeper look at the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake.

While the presentation featured the same trailer from Summer Game Fest 2025, it wasn’t just about the game’s visuals and release date (August 28, 2025). Konami also revealed an exciting, original multiplayer mode called Fox Hunt, designed specifically for this remake.

Fox Hunt isn’t a rehash of the Metal Gear Online multiplayer that fans remember. Instead, it introduces a completely new take on multiplayer gameplay. According to Yu Sahara, director of the Fox Hunt mode, the team was mindful of how multiplayer games have evolved since the heyday of MGO. Sahara made it clear that while some fans were hoping for a return of MGO, the team felt it was time for a fresh approach.

Details on Fox Hunt are still sparse, but Sahara teased a unique gameplay experience focused on stealth, a hallmark of the Metal Gear series. Players will engage in a high-stakes game of hide-and-seek, where the environment becomes a crucial part of the strategy. Players will need to use camouflage and stealth to outwit their opponents, elevating the tactical gameplay we’ve come to expect from the franchise.

The mode will offer a rich, tactical experience that plays with Metal Gear Solid’s core mechanics in new and exciting ways. Konami promises that Fox Hunt will broaden the series’ classic stealth elements, making the game’s multiplayer feel like a fresh experience. Still, many questions remain: How many players will be involved? Will there be cross-play? What kind of game modes will be included? While we don’t have answers yet, the game is fast approaching its August 2025 release.

In other exciting news, Konami also revealed that Bloober Team, the studio behind the well-received Silent Hill 2 remake, has been tasked with developing a remake of the original Silent Hill game. Fans of both franchises are in for a lot of great content from Konami this year.
