The deadline is here: If you’re a past or current owner of a Siri-enabled device, today, July 2, marks the final day to claim your portion of a $95 million payout from Apple’s Siri privacy lawsuit settlement. The company has agreed to settle a class-action case over allegations that Siri recorded users’ private conversations without consent.

But, there’s a catch – the final payout per user will be less than expected due to deductions for attorney’s fees, administration costs, and the number of people filing claims.

If you received an email titled ‘Lopez Voice Assistant Class Action Settlement,’ it’s time to act fast. The email provides a Claim Identification Code and Confirmation Code, which are required to submit your claim. These details ensure that you’re eligible for a payout if your private conversations were potentially recorded by Siri between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024.

The maximum you can claim is $20 per Siri-enabled device, capped at $100 if you have up to five eligible devices. However, given the volume of claims expected, the payout amount for each individual is likely to be much lower than the cap. Claims can be submitted online, but if you prefer to mail in your claim, the forms must be postmarked by today.

Despite the settlement, Apple maintains that it did not do anything wrong. The company has denied any unlawful actions but has agreed to pay the settlement to avoid further litigation. The lawsuit, which started in 2019, focused on allegations that Apple had unlawfully recorded conversations through Siri without user consent, infringing on privacy rights.
