Yesterday, a new game called Lionhearts appeared on Kickstarter, aiming to raise $100K. With over half of that already pledged, this project is already off to a strong start. Those familiar with the world of ROBLOX might recognize the name from Lionhearts: Crusade, a popular conquest experience developed by Credenzio Studios that gained over 6.3 million plays since its 2018 release.
Now, the Colorado-based developer is taking it to the next level, transforming the concept into a fully-fledged standalone game built using Unreal Engine 5.
Lionhearts promises to be a persistent multiplayer feudal simulator set in a historically authentic 12th-century medieval world, with the events unfolding during the Third Crusade. Drawing inspiration from titles like Mount and Blade: Bannerlord, Assassin’s Creed, Helldivers, and EVE Online, this game will offer players a chance to create their own legacy. Unlike most traditional RPGs, NPCs will play minimal roles in the world, allowing players to carve out their own path through choices in military, religious, or trade careers.
The game will feature a staggering 16 factions, 14 guild types, and more than 60 career paths. Whether you dream of becoming a knight, a bishop, a merchant, or even a king ruling over the Holy Land, Lionhearts offers near-limitless possibilities. Players can gain power and wealth by navigating politics, waging wars, and establishing trade routes, all while trying to balance religion and internal politics within their kingdoms.
With 12 player-run kingdoms and 4 military orders, every position of power, from lord to king, will be controlled by real players. The world will feel alive as players forge alliances, betray friends, and fight for dominance in the ever-shifting power dynamics of the medieval world.
One of the most ambitious features of Lionhearts is its persistent world, made possible through a server meshing technology. This will allow servers to be seamlessly stitched together, creating a unified open world where players won’t have to worry about hopping between different servers or waiting through loading screens. The developers are making it clear that they are aiming for a smooth, MMO-like experience that feels like one continuous world.
For those who are curious, there is a ‘visual demo’ available for download through the game’s Kickstarter page, which gives a taste of the ambitious project. If you’re intrigued, you can also add Lionhearts to your Steam wishlist to stay updated on future developments.
