The MacBook has long been associated with Apple’s M-series chipsets, but now, according to evidence uncovered in backend code, Apple is planning a new direction for its portable lineup. The upcoming model could break the M-series mold and feature an A18 Pro chipset. This move may initially seem surprising, given that the A18 Pro has a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU, making it slower compared to most M-series models. 
However, it could offer a more affordable option for users, especially those on a budget.
Apple’s push into low-cost laptops isn’t new. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously hinted that a budget-friendly MacBook with a 13-inch display would be launched in multiple colors, including silver, blue, pink, and yellow. MacRumors recently found a unique identifier in the backend code-Mac17,1-which points to a new MacBook powered by the A18 Pro. This could represent Apple’s strategy to reach a broader market by offering a cheaper model with lower specifications but still retaining the durability and reliability of the MacBook brand.
The new A18 Pro-powered MacBook will likely be a great choice for students or those seeking an affordable yet solid laptop for daily tasks.
