Now that the game is finished, the team will be focusing on fine-tuning and polishing every detail to ensure the game is ready for its big debut this summer.

As a prequel, Mafia: The Old Country marks the return of the series after nearly a decade-long hiatus. The last major release in the franchise was Mafia III, released in 2016. Since then, fans have seen remakes and remasters of earlier titles, but this marks the first completely new entry in the franchise in years.

Hangar 13 promises that this installment will be the best-looking game in the Mafia series, thanks to its collaboration with Italian developer Stormind Games. Together, they have worked hard to ensure the game’s setting in Italy feels authentic, capturing the essence of the country’s culture, history, and landscapes. According to Salvo Fallica, senior project manager at Stormind Games, “Our priority has always been to make sure that everything in the game feels authentic.” He emphasized the importance of detail, adding, “The details are absolutely key in keeping the immersion of the player.”

Lead writer at Hangar 13, Matthew Aitken, echoed this sentiment, stressing the team’s dedication to providing players with a fully immersive experience. With all the gameplay footage we’ve seen so far and the developer’s behind-the-scenes insights, fans are eager to see if Mafia: The Old Country will live up to its lofty expectations when it launches in August.
