The launch of Build A Rocket Boy’s debut title, MindsEye, has been far from smooth. With reports of PlayStation offering refunds to players-something the company rarely does-it’s clear that the game has not lived up to expectations. After players shared their experiences online, showing off bugs and lengthy complaints, the studio responded with a heartfelt message on the official X account. In their statement, they expressed being ‘heartbroken’ that not every player had the experience they intended for MindsEye.

They cited a memory leak affecting around 1 in 10 players as the main culprit, and revealed that a hotfix was already in the works.

In their public statement, Build A Rocket Boy reassured fans that they were committed to improving the game. The studio promised that the first patch would be available soon, and that they would continue pushing out updates through the rest of June. They promised to remain transparent and responsive to feedback from the community.

This weekend’s patch will address several critical issues, including performance optimizations for CPU and GPU, a reduced difficulty setting for the CPR mini-game, a new option to disable or adjust Depth of Field, and fixes for missing controls in mini-games like MineHunter and Run Dungeon. For next week, the studio plans to release another update focused on incremental performance improvements and stability fixes, along with solutions to visual bugs like wheels not spinning when driving and areas where players could fall through the world. By the end of the month, the third patch will include further improvements to performance, rebalancing of the “Hard” difficulty setting, animation fixes, and enhanced AI.

Despite the studio’s best efforts, many players remain dissatisfied. Several have already posted videos of their buggy gameplay and some have even shared their frustration by requesting refunds. However, others have expressed a willingness to wait for future patches before giving the game another chance.
