MindsEye, the latest title from Build a Rocket Boy, launched this week for PC and consoles. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, it has quickly become notorious for its heavy hardware demands. Despite being equipped with an RTX 5080, one of the most powerful GPUs currently available, the game struggles to maintain 60 FPS at 4K resolution without relying on NVIDIA DLSS and Frame Generation. A recent video from MxBenchmarkPC demonstrates that even with these technologies enabled, MindsEye barely reaches 60 FPS at 4K, and it requires Multi Frame Generation to achieve a smoother, more high-refresh rate experience. The situation is only slightly improved at 1440p, but the game still lingers at around 60 FPS, underscoring the heavy GPU load. The demand for high-end hardware like the RTX 5090 is clear, with no other current GPU capable of handling the game properly in its present form.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a surprise for anyone who has been following the game’s development. Just before launch, two chief executives left Build a Rocket Boy, and early console reviewers reported that the game was in a rough state. The day-one patch did little to address these issues, leaving many players frustrated. With all this in mind, it’s clear that MindsEye still has significant optimization challenges to overcome.

Now available worldwide on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, MindsEye promises to be an exciting, albeit demanding, experience-if your hardware can handle it.
