Steve’s infamous Lava Chicken song from A Minecraft Movie has officially made its way into the game itself-but you won’t hear Jack Black crooning it this time.
Instead, you’ll need to hunt down one of the game’s rarest mobs to unlock a special remix.
Thanks to Minecraft’s latest update 1.21.93, players who manage to defeat a Chicken Jockey-a baby zombie riding a chicken-can snag a new music disc featuring a chiptune remix of the viral hit. The remix, crafted by Hyper Potions, swaps vocals for dubstep energy, stretching the original 34-second jingle into an infectious multi-minute loop that’s equal parts charming and maddening.
The original track, performed by Jack Black in the movie, skyrocketed to fame with absurd lyrics like “la-la-la-lava ch-ch-ch-chicken,” ultimately becoming the shortest song ever to chart on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was co-written by Black and director Jared Hess, and marked Black’s second unexpected musical hit in a video game film, following the unforgettable “Peaches” from The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
With A Minecraft Movie grossing nearly $1 billion globally and even releasing a singalong edition, it’s no surprise Mojang brought its most iconic meme moment into the game. And yes, whispers of a sequel are already floating around.
For now, if you want to vibe to the beat of Steve’s Lava Chicken inside Minecraft, you’ll need to get hunting. And good luck-Chicken Jockeys don’t spawn every day.
