In a surprising move, the Monster Hunter Wilds development team has announced a performance optimization talk to take place later this month. While the game has faced ongoing technical issues since its release, including struggles with performance, the developers are eager to share their approach to the game’s optimization. As per CEDEC 2025, Japan’s largest game development conference, Yuichi Ito, a programmer, and Takanori Nakamura, an AI engineer, will host a session on July 24.
The talk will delve into the challenges the team faced in optimizing the game, while also aiming to highlight how they’ve “maintained stable operation” of core features-a statement that many will find somewhat ironic given the ongoing performance issues that have plagued the game since launch.
The recent Title Update 2 introduced improvements for VRAM utilization, but it did little to resolve the game’s underlying performance woes. In fact, the patch even caused new stability issues leading to crashes on a variety of system setups. Fortunately, a fix is on the way with a new 1.020.01.00 patch, which aims to address these stability issues and another annoying bug causing unstable performance when using ranged weapons.
Despite the ongoing technical challenges, Monster Hunter Wilds remains available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. While these ongoing issues have dampened the excitement for the game, it still stands as a strong new entry in the series for those willing to look past the rough technical performance. It’s ridiculous that I need a 4090 to get decent performance on this game. I could run World on an RX470 at 70+ fps, but Wilds needs the best GPU out there and still has problems. Unreal
Pffff hahahaha, HAHAHAHHA! Let me guess, this ‘AI Engineer’ will just talk about upscaling – ‘Look guys, we added DLSS4 and FSR4, now all your woes will be fixed overnight!!!’
