Motorola is gearing up for a major launch next week with the Moto G96, a new addition to its Moto G series. The company has confirmed that the phone will officially debut in India on July 9, after details about the device surfaced last week.
This model is set to be the top-tier option in the Moto G series, offering impressive specs for a mid-range phone.
The Moto G96 stands out with its 6.67-inch curved pOLED display, offering a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, this phone will come in two storage options: 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage.
On the camera front, the Moto G96 is equipped with a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700C sensor as the primary shooter, complemented by a 32-megapixel selfie camera. While details about the second rear camera are still under wraps, the phone is expected to provide great photography performance.
Battery life is another highlight, with a 5,500 mAh battery that promises up to 35 hours of talk time, 32 hours of video playback, or 119 hours of music. However, one downside is that Motorola has only promised three years of security updates, which may be a letdown for those expecting longer support.
The Moto G96’s competition in the mid-range market includes phones like the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion, Nothing CMF Phone 2 Pro, and the Redmi Note 14 Pro. While most of these phones are powered by MediaTek processors, the Moto G96 stands out with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, giving it a unique position in the market.
As for pricing, Motorola has yet to disclose the exact cost, but the price tag will be a key factor in determining whether this phone can stand out in a crowded mid-range market.
