MSI Unveils New Project Zero Motherboards With Rear Connector Design

MSI is taking its sleek, cable-hiding Project Zero design to new heights with the upcoming 800-series motherboards

The company is preparing to launch three new Pro Series models – two based on Intel’s latest B860 chipset and one built around AMD’s B850 platform – all featuring the innovative rear-connector layout that defines Project Zero.

This design approach, which tucks away all major connectors like the 24-pin ATX, EPS CPU power, and front panel I/O behind the board, aims to deliver ultra-clean PC builds. It’s a niche idea that’s gaining momentum among enthusiasts who value minimalism and airflow optimization.

The AMD B850M-A WiFi PZ has already been spotted on MSI’s official site. This micro-ATX motherboard sports four PCIe x16 slots – an unusually generous offering for such a compact form factor. It features square, silver-themed heatsinks that continue the Project Zero aesthetic, and includes rear-mounted 8+4 pin EPS power, USB Type-C, SATA, and even a PCIe 8-pin GPU connector, along with multiple headers for fans and RGB.

On the Intel side, the leaked models are the PRO B860M-A WiFi PZ and PRO B860M-VC WiFi PZ, both featuring the LGA 1851 socket. Though images of these boards haven’t surfaced yet, they’re expected to follow the same clean design principles seen on the AMD variant.

While MSI hasn’t made an official announcement, these leaks – shared by the well-known insider @momomo_us – suggest that connector-less boards are not just a design gimmick, but part of a growing trend for builders who want their rigs to look as sharp on the inside as they do on the outside.

With this expansion, MSI is carving out a strong niche for itself in the stylish-builds space – and maybe giving DIY PC enthusiasts one more reason to give micro-ATX another look.
