However, with Bethesda Game Studios focused on finishing The Elder Scrolls VI, adding more Fallout games to their plate isn’t a simple task. Even though there were some indications from Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer suggesting Bethesda might speed up production, Todd Howard, Bethesda’s director, clarified that no game would be rushed to meet an arbitrary deadline.
In a recent podcast appearance on Skill Up’s YouTube channel, Jordan Middler from VideoGamesChronicles shared some intriguing news: there are several Fallout projects in the works, including one that fans have been clamoring for. However, despite this, the next main Fallout game is still a long way from being released. Many fans are wondering why Fallout 5 wasn’t immediately worked on after the popularity of Fallout 4, but Todd Howard’s involvement in this next title might be uncertain given his age. He’s about 55 years old, and after finishing The Elder Scrolls VI (which is expected to launch by 2028), it’s likely he could be ready to move on.
As for the rumored projects, one could be a remaster of Fallout 3, which surfaced during the Microsoft vs. FTC trial. Another project might be a remaster of Fallout: New Vegas, especially with the upcoming season of the Fallout TV show set in Vegas. Some speculate that Obsidian, the developers behind New Vegas, could take the lead on a sequel, though the rumor is quite old, and Obsidian is currently busy with other projects.
