Fans of Masters of the Universe have finally gotten their first glimpse of Nicholas Galitzine in the role of He-Man – sort of. On June 15, the film’s official channels posted a shadowy photo of Galitzine in full costume, dramatically shot from the back to keep anticipation high. The accompanying caption confirmed that filming has wrapped and included a heartfelt note from the actor.
“Well, that’s a wrap on Masters of the Universe.
It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He-Man,” Galitzine shared. “It’s been the role of a lifetime and I put everything into it.”
And put in the work he did. Galitzine previously revealed he had been consuming nearly 4,000 calories a day and undergoing intense physical training to transform into the iconic Eternian hero. “You end up hungry at the end of the day, which is quite surprising,” he told W magazine back in January.
The new film stars Galitzine as both Prince Adam and his muscle-bound alter ego, He-Man. He’s joined by an impressive ensemble cast including Camila Mendes, Allison Brie, Jared Leto, and Idris Elba. The movie is helmed by Bumblebee director Travis Knight and penned by ParaNorman writer Chris Butler, promising both visual flair and storytelling chops. The film is slated for release next summer.
While the teaser image gave little away, fan reactions are already pouring in – from jokes about muscles and baby oil to excitement over the film’s potential. With a strong creative team and an ambitious lead actor, Masters of the Universe might just be the nostalgic reboot fans have been waiting for.
