Nintendo Switch 2 eShop Launch: The Top-Selling Games (And Upgrades) So Far
Just 24 hours after the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, its eShop charts already paint a vivid picture of what early adopters are downloading – and it’s not just the games grabbing attention, but some $10 upgrades too. Despite mixed fan reactions, many are shelling out for enhanced experiences of familiar titles.
Unsurprisingly, Mario Kart World tops the chart. Bundled with many Switch 2 consoles, this flagship title leads the way thanks to download codes provided with hardware purchases. Its reign at the top isn’t shocking – it’s Nintendo doing what it does best.
What’s more unexpected is the second place: Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition. Previously absent from Nintendo’s ecosystem, this ambitious RPG is now fully playable on the Switch 2, showing that gamers are eager to revisit Night City in portable form. With the new hardware finally able to handle the game’s intense visuals and systems, it’s no wonder CD Projekt is basking in this surprise success.
Next up is the much-debated Switch 2 Welcome Tour. At $10, many expected it to flop – a glorified demo pack, some argued. But clearly, fans were curious enough to grab it, possibly to test out their new console’s capabilities. Some cynically claim people complained only because they really wanted it. Maybe they’re right. After all, who argues over something they truly don’t care about?
In fourth place is Fast Fusion, a futuristic racer reminiscent of Nintendo’s long-dormant F-Zero franchise. Developed by Shin’en Multimedia, it’s the spiritual successor to Fast RMX – another launch-era hit – and continues to be embraced by fans hungry for high-speed, zero-gravity racing.
Rounding out the top five is the $10 Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom upgrade. While this add-on is technically included for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, it’s selling briskly. Whether it’s due to confusion, ownership preferences, or simple collector’s mentality, the numbers show there’s still strong demand for Zelda enhancements – even if the visuals are only modestly improved.
Further down the list: the new Deltarune chapters, the Breath of the Wild $10 upgrade, Fantasy Life i, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and heavy-hitters like Yakuza 0, Street Fighter 6 (Y1-Y2), and Hitman: World of Assassination. Hogwarts Legacy also makes a showing, alongside its own $10 upgrade, offering another reminder that even familiar games get fresh life on new hardware.
Still, reactions are mixed. Some gamers feel underwhelmed by the current top sellers, especially those hoping for more bold, first-party innovation. But others are simply excited to see older titles given a new home with performance boosts. Love it or hate it, the Switch 2 has made its mark fast – and clearly, so have its launch day offerings.
