Analysts had already predicted a strong start for the console, with forecasts from DFC Intelligence estimating it could sell up to 15 million units by the end of the year. 
Without the added burden of tariffs, the figure could reach 17 million units, making the Switch 2 a real contender in the console market.
The early reception of the Switch 2 has been overwhelmingly positive. Chris Wray from Wccftech praised the system in his review, highlighting its sturdier build, improved quality of life features, and clear upgrades over its predecessor. The Switch 2 combines the best aspects of handheld and traditional gaming, with a larger, crisper display and 4K support when docked, providing a more professional experience for users. However, the console’s high price, lackluster launch lineup, and the need for additional storage (via a MicroSD Express card) may cause hesitation for some potential buyers.

In fact, Koei Tecmo has indicated that the Switch 2’s performance is more in line with the Xbox Series S than with Sony’s PlayStation 4, further solidifying its place in the competitive gaming market.
