Nintendo Switch 2 Update 20.1.5: Stability and Backward Compatibility Improvements

Nintendo Switch 2’s latest system update, version 20.1.5, has officially gone live, bringing some much-needed stability improvements and a few undocumented tweaks.

While the update notes emphasize that it focuses on ‘general system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience,’ there’s more under the hood than meets the eye.

One of the most notable changes is better backward compatibility. According to renowned dataminer OatmealDome, this update helps previously unsupported titles become playable on the Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which had screen flickering issues, now works flawlessly, with a patch also planned for the demo version.

Backward compatibility is a standout feature of the Nintendo Switch 2, and it seems like Nintendo is actively working to enhance this functionality. Early tests confirm that even unpatched games benefit from the console’s improved hardware, offering more stable frame rates than before. As the updates continue to roll in, we can expect even more incompatible titles to be made playable on the system.

All in all, the Nintendo Switch 2 continues to deliver significant upgrades over its predecessor, with a solid gaming experience, better specs, and a growing library of supported games.
