The year was 1975: a pivotal time in history with Bill Gates and Paul Allen launching Microsoft, the U.S.
and Soviet Union joining forces for the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, and Ace Jewelers opening its doors in Amsterdam. Fast forward to today, and Ace Jewelers is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a unique collaboration with NOMOS Glashütte, creating two stunning orange-themed Metro neomatik watches.
Known for its minimalist Bauhaus design, superb in-house movements, and a bold approach to color, NOMOS has partnered with Ace Jewelers to mark this milestone with two limited-edition Metro models. These watches-limited to only 50 pieces each-are a bold reimagining of the iconic Metro, designed by Mark Braun. The collaboration centers around orange, a color that is as distinctive as it is vibrant, and one that reflects the dynamic spirit of Ace Jewelers’ anniversary.
Mark Braun, the designer behind the Metro, infused these pieces with his signature modern aesthetic. The two Metro neomatik models sport inverted color schemes: one features a dark orange dial with a light orange sub-seconds register, while the other reverses the hues for a striking contrast
. Both versions are available in two sizes, the 35mm Metro neomatik and the 39mm Metro neomatik 39, offering a choice for both smaller and larger wrists.
Alon Ben Joseph, CEO of Ace Jewelers, shared his excitement for the collaboration, saying, ‘Celebrating our 50th anniversary with a NOMOS limited edition feels like a full-circle moment.
The Metro embodies contemporary elegance and precision, and having Mark Braun personally involved in the design process makes these pieces even more special.’
Mark Braun also expressed his enthusiasm, ‘It has been a welcome and inspiring challenge to design the Anniversary Limited Edition for Ace Jewelers of our Metro for NOMOS Glashütte – especially as I’ve been living in the Netherlands for some time. Happy birthday Ace Jewelers – enjoy the time ticking and celebrate Metro in its orange vitality in every detail.’
The watches feature NOMOS’s remarkable DUW 3001 automatic caliber, a thin, efficient movement that provides up to 43 hours of power reserve. Both models are presented with black Horween genuine shell cordovan straps and come with a sapphire caseback, showcasing NOMOS’ traditional Glashütte watchmaking elements, including ribbing and perlage.
The Ace Jewelers x NOMOS Glashütte Metro neomatik and Metro neomatik 39 are available exclusively at Ace Jewelers’ Amsterdam boutique and online, priced at EUR 2,810 and EUR 2,926 excluding VAT, respectively. Each model is individually numbered, with the first 10 sold as a matching-numbers set. Free worldwide shipping is available via DHL Express, making it easy for enthusiasts worldwide to own a piece of this anniversary celebration.
