Although the Nothing Phone (1) won’t be getting Android 16, loyal users still have something to smile about. Launched three years ago with Android 12, the company’s first smartphone promised three major OS upgrades-Android 15 being the final one.
But Nothing isn’t just walking away from its first device. Instead, it’s delivering the next best thing: a feature-rich Nothing OS 3.2 update.
The new update is now rolling out to Phone (1) devices, bringing along much-requested features that users have seen on newer Nothing phones. Here’s what’s new:
New Features
- Privacy Space: Swipe right in the app drawer to access your personal secure zone.
- Separate privacy password: Now you can set distinct passwords for App Locker and Privacy Space.
- Hotspot Manager: Gain better control over devices connected to your hotspot.
Improvements and Fixes
- Resolved a glitch where the Glyph Composer’s light strip showed incorrect behavior during music playback.
- New toggle added to disable face unlock vibration on the lock screen.
- Updated with June’s Android security patch.
- Accessibility fixes applied to Launcher, Gallery, and other system apps.
- General stability improvements and bug fixes.
Nothing has noted that your Phone (1) may temporarily overheat or use more battery during the upgrade process, but things should return to normal shortly afterward. The update is being deployed in stages, so if it hasn’t reached your device yet, be patient.
While it remains uncertain whether more updates like this will come to the Phone (1), this latest release helps extend the life of the stylish device just a bit longer. If you’re craving Android 16 or future upgrades, however, it might be time to explore newer models in the Nothing lineup.
