Nothing has officially confirmed that the Glyph LEDs will be replaced on the upcoming Phone (3) with a new feature called Glyph Matrix. This announcement has been generating buzz since Nothing first revealed that the Phone (3) would not feature the signature LED array on the back, a characteristic that quickly became synonymous with the brand’s identity. Speculation about a possible replacement ran wild, with many guessing that the Glyph LEDs would be replaced with a more advanced dot-matrix display.
Now, we know that this is indeed the case.
The Glyph Matrix will offer a much more customizable experience compared to the original Glyph LEDs, allowing for greater flexibility in how the lights interact with the user. This evolution makes sense, as a dot-matrix display can provide more dynamic lighting effects and a broader range of possibilities.
As seen in the teaser video shared by Nothing, the Glyph Matrix display is positioned on the top right side of the Phone (3)’s rear. This placement suggests that the camera island will be left-aligned, which could give the phone a more balanced and unique design. If this holds true, it would contradict previous leaked renders that suggested a centered camera setup, so it’s safe to approach those leaks with a bit more skepticism.
In addition to the exciting new design, Nothing has already revealed that the Phone (3) will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor. The device will also be supported with five major Android OS updates and seven years of security updates, which ensures longevity and performance. The Phone (3) and the Nothing Headphone (1) will be officially unveiled during a special event in London on July 1, so mark your calendars!
