Nothing Phone (3): Refined Design, No Glyph Interface, Same Bold Vision

Nothing is preparing to shake up the smartphone scene again, and their upcoming Nothing Phone (3) is already grabbing attention ahead of its official reveal on July 1. In a recent teaser, the company hinted at subtle but meaningful design updates-some of which are already sparking debates among fans and critics alike.

One major change? The Glyph Interface, the signature LED lighting system used in previous models, is reportedly gone. Instead, a new dot-matrix style light system might take its place, although recent images don’t show it clearly.

Nothing is promoting the Phone (3) as a result of “ultra-precise engineering,” and from what’s visible in the teaser, they’re sticking with the minimalist, industrial design language-clean lines, sharp cuts, and tight tolerances.

The image shared reveals the back of the phone, featuring a sleeker look and no visible screws. One screw appears to be cleverly concealed under a plastic cap, seamlessly blending into the design. This small touch alone makes the device feel more polished and mature than its predecessors.

That said, there’s some mystery surrounding whether the transparency element-an iconic part of Nothing’s visual identity-will remain. While the surface doesn’t look see-through in the teaser, older sketches shared by the company hinted it might return in some form.

Reception to the removal of the Glyph Interface has been mixed. Some users are disappointed to see it go, while others believe it was more style than substance. As one fan noted, “People want performance and clean software. Lights are cool, but no one really uses them.”

We do know that the Nothing Phone (3) will come with flagship-level specifications and a price point around £800. What we don’t know yet are full specs, camera details, or whether the new lighting system will win fans over or just be another gimmick.

With July 1 approaching fast, the countdown is on. Will this be Nothing’s breakthrough flagship? Stay tuned.
