NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 8 GB GPU Launch Date Rescheduled to July 1st

NVIDIA is reportedly bringing forward the release of its GeForce RTX 5050 8GB GPU, which was initially slated for the end of July, to July 1st. This surprising move has raised some eyebrows, with speculation that the actual product availability may not align with the new launch date.

According to MEGAsizeGPU, this may be more of a ‘paper launch,’ meaning the product will be announced but may not ship until mid or late July, as initially planned.

The GPU will be positioned as an entry-level option, with a price range of $199 to $249, targeting gamers looking for an affordable choice under the $299 GeForce RTX 5060. The RTX 5050 will directly compete with Intel’s Arc B580 12GB and Arc B570 10GB GPUs, priced at $219 and $249, respectively.

In terms of specifications, the RTX 5050 will feature the Blackwell GB207 GPU, with 2560 cores, identical to the RTX 3050, but leveraging the newer Blackwell architecture. The card will be equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 memory running at 20 Gbps, offering a 320 GB/s bandwidth over a 128-bit bus. This is a notable improvement over the RTX 3050’s 14 Gbps memory and 224 GB/s bandwidth.

Here’s a quick comparison of the RTX 5050 against the RTX 3050:

  • Same number of CUDA cores (2560)
  • Faster RT & AI cores
  • 20 Gbps vs 14 Gbps memory speed (+43%)
  • 320 GB/s vs 224 GB/s memory bandwidth (+43%)
  • Similar 128-bit bus interface
  • Lower 100W TDP vs 130W TDP
  • Expected price range: $199-$249

Although NVIDIA isn’t expected to release a Founders Edition model for the RTX 5050, AIB partners will likely offer their own custom variants. A 5-phase VRM design is expected to be featured on most reference PCB designs. More details on the RTX 5050 are expected in the coming months, and it will be interesting to see how the market responds to another entry-level 8GB GPU.
