OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z3 Review: Budget Neckband Champion With Big Battery Life

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z3 brings a familiar neckband design with some modest but meaningful improvements.

While it looks nearly identical to the Z2, the Z3 subtly refines the formula with upgraded Bluetooth connectivity, better battery life, and new audio features like 3D Audio and EQ presets.

Design-wise, the flexible neckband with magnetic earbuds remains. It’s comfy, IP55-rated for dust and splash resistance, and practical for everyday use. Physical buttons on the left stalk manage playback, volume, and charging through a USB-C port. It’s not flashy, but it’s functionally solid-especially for workouts or long calls.

The software has seen minor upgrades. Through the HeyMelody app or directly in OnePlus devices’ Bluetooth settings, users can access OnePlus 3D Audio and limited EQ presets. While you can’t create a custom EQ, the adjustable BassWave feature helps dial the sound closer to your preference.

Audio performance is solid, though heavy on the bass by default. The 12.4mm drivers support SBC and AAC codecs. BassWave lets you reduce the overpowering low end, revealing a more balanced sound signature. Mids are forward but can sound boxy if the bass is turned down too much. Treble is acceptable, if unremarkable-fine for casual listeners.

The built-in microphone impresses with clarity in quiet and moderately noisy environments. However, a constant background hiss and occasional popping noises spoil an otherwise excellent mic experience. Hopefully, a firmware update can resolve that.

There’s no active noise cancellation, and thus, no transparency mode either. Still, passive isolation works fine for daily use. Latency is minimal on phones and PCs alike, which is rare for budget earbuds.

Connectivity is stable, but despite Bluetooth 5.4, there’s no multi-device pairing. Also missing is the ability to toggle quickly between devices like older OnePlus models.

Where the Z3 truly shines is battery life. Rated at 36 hours, our tests pushed over 37 hours of continuous playback. A 10-minute charge yielded more than 28 hours-making it a battery beast in this price range.

In conclusion, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z3 offers minor enhancements but stays true to its budget-friendly, utility-first roots. It’s a reliable pick for anyone looking for long battery life, physical controls, and good audio without spending a fortune-or dealing with the downsides of TWS earbuds.
