OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE5 Set to Shake Up the Mid-Range Market

OnePlus is set to expand its mid-range lineup with two new smartphones: the Nord 5 and Nord CE5.

The Chinese brand, once known for just a few flagship releases per year, has grown into a strong contender against industry giants like Motorola, Samsung, and Xiaomi, thanks to its Nord series and recently launched Android tablets.

These two mid-range devices, long rumored, finally have a release date: July 8. It’s surprising, though, since OnePlus typically launches these devices separately. For instance, the Nord CE4 debuted in April last year, while the Nord 4 was unveiled in July. So, seeing both phones announced together is a bit unusual.

The Nord 5 is expected to feature a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9400e chipset, the same processor used in the Ace 5 Racing Edition (available only in China) and Realme’s GT 7. Additionally, the device is rumored to boast a vibrant 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a dual-camera setup, including a 50-megapixel main sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The Nord 5 is also said to come with a huge 7,000mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging and a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

Meanwhile, the Nord CE5 is expected to be a more affordable version of the Nord 5. It will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Like its sibling, the Nord CE5 will sport the same dual-camera setup and a 16-megapixel front camera. It will also feature a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The battery, slightly larger at 7,100mAh, will support 80W wired charging.

With the release approaching, we’ll see soon whether these rumors hold up. For now, it’s clear that OnePlus is trying to capture a significant share of the mid-range market with powerful specifications and impressive battery life.
