The OnePlus Nord 5 is gearing up for release in less than a month, and fresh details have surfaced via Geekbench, confirming that the phone will feature a Qualcomm chip instead of the previously rumored MediaTek Dimensity 9400e. The device (model CPH2707) will sport the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset paired with 12GB of RAM, delivering impressive Geekbench scores of 1,977 for single-core and 5,090 for multi-core performance. Running on Android 15, it’s expected to feature OxygenOS 15 on top.
As for the rest of the specs, the Nord 5 is said to include a 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 16MP selfie camera.
The main camera setup boasts a 50MP primary shooter with optical image stabilization (OIS) alongside an 8MP ultrawide lens. Additionally, rumors suggest that the Nord 5 will come with a massive 7,000mAh battery and support for 100W wired charging, making it a powerhouse in the midrange segment.
Despite the Qualcomm chip, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 has raised mixed opinions. While the performance is solid, some feel it’s a bit outdated compared to newer chips like the Dimensity 9400e. That said, OnePlus’s decision to focus on processing power over cutting-edge camera tech is clear-choosing a top-tier chip at the expense of a more advanced camera setup.
In any case, the Nord 5 looks set to be a solid contender in the midrange market, offering a blend of power, display quality, and fast charging. But whether the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 can keep up with the competition remains to be seen.

Don’t mind this. 8s Gen 3 would be a good chip if they put a top triple camera set up on it and maintain a similar premium design to the Nord 4. I’d always choose an upper midrange or lower flagship processor over a compromise on the camera or build quality of the phone since you won’t be able to notice the difference between top of the line processors on a daily
I’ll take it still. Not many manufacturers used the 7+ Gen 3 at all, I think OP was one of the first. The rest of the year the midrange never caught up and preferred the 7s Gen 3 instead. I’d even be happy with the new 7 Gen 4 even though it’s a downgrade because it’s better than what others offer
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 4 is way more than enough for everyday use. Even mobile gaming in High preset settings should still be doable
Good Good. Qualcomm Chip Yes but a year old chip why ?? If Nord series can add up a 3x or 3.2x Telephoto lens bundled with this one then I can say yeah good phone
Eww.. the only people who’d buy this are the ones who eat live octopus and shrimps
