OnePlus and Oppo Are Building a Compact Tablet with Snapdragon 8 Elite 2

OnePlus and Oppo are reportedly gearing up to launch a compact, high-performance tablet, and it might just shake up the mini-tablet market.

According to the well-known Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, both companies are developing nearly identical tablets featuring Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (likely branded Snapdragon 8 Elite 2) chipset.

The standout feature? A sleek 8.8-inch display packed into a small, premium body – finally giving fans of smaller tablets something to look forward to. OnePlus is rumored to unveil its version in the first half of 2026, likely alongside the anticipated OnePlus 15T, a 6.3-inch follow-up to the 13T. Oppo, following tradition, is expected to release a near-identical twin under its own brand.

This wouldn’t be the first time the BBK siblings mirror each other’s moves – both have a history of rebranding each other’s devices, especially in the tablet space. But that doesn’t make it any less exciting. With a flagship processor and compact form factor, this could be the mini Android tablet fans have been waiting for – especially those who’ve long admired Lenovo’s Y700 series but wanted something with more horsepower and longer software support.

While Samsung continues to focus on larger tablets and foldables, the mini-tablet niche remains under-served, making this upcoming device all the more intriguing. Whether it launches as the OnePlus Pad Mini Pro or the Oppo Pad Air X (names still speculative), it’s already capturing attention from enthusiasts who want flagship power in a travel-friendly size.

Stay tuned – 2026 might finally be the year small tablets make a big comeback.
