The Outer Worlds 2 Launches October 29 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Obsidian Entertainment has officially revealed that The Outer Worlds 2 will launch on October 29, 2025, hitting PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC simultaneously.

The announcement headlined the Xbox Games 2025 Showcase, immediately grabbing attention with a gripping new story trailer.

In this sequel, players take on the role of an Earth Directorate agent caught in a desperate mission to investigate a mysterious rift threatening humanity’s very existence. The trailer not only highlighted thrilling gameplay but also teased deeper narrative stakes than the original.

This marks Obsidian’s second major RPG release in the same year, following the earlier debut of Avowed. While Avowed introduces players to a new universe, The Outer Worlds 2 returns to a familiar but evolved setting. The first game, though warmly received, had its flaws, particularly in combat mechanics and gameplay excitement.

Critics like Wccftech’s Alessio Palumbo acknowledged the original’s compelling world-building and sharp writing but pointed out its shortcomings in moment-to-moment action. Palumbo expressed hope that a sequel with a stronger budget could elevate the franchise to new heights. Judging by the trailer and narrative ambition, Obsidian seems ready to deliver on that promise.

Fans of narrative-driven sci-fi RPGs will want to mark their calendars-The Outer Worlds 2 looks set to deliver a more refined and ambitious adventure this October.
