Atlus made waves at the Xbox Game Showcase with the announcement of Persona 4 Revival, a long-awaited remake of the beloved RPG. Fans have been speculating about this project for years, but the 40-second teaser trailer left some disappointed.
While the announcement itself was met with excitement, the trailer’s quality didn’t quite live up to expectations.
Critics quickly pointed out issues with the graphics, lighting, and animations, with one fan joking, “Man, the graphics look like stock Unreal lol.” Some even felt that the trailer had a fanmade vibe, which led to a wave of online disappointment. A few fans voiced their frustration, noting the absence of crucial details like a release date or confirmation of a Switch 2 version.
However, not all responses were negative. Some fans speculated that the teaser was a rushed acknowledgment of the game’s development, given how long the remake has been rumored. “This is a ‘damn, here you go’ ass trailer,” one fan remarked, while another suggested that the teaser was put together hastily after the voice actors confirmed they wouldn’t be returning. Despite the quick-paced reveal, fans remain hopeful.
In response to the feedback, P-Studio director Kazuhisa Wada reassured fans that the team is passionate about the project and is preparing a truly surprising experience for both new players and longtime fans of the series. Wada emphasized that Persona 4 holds a special place in Atlus’s heart and that the studio is working tirelessly to meet fan expectations.
“We are actively preparing for the future development of the Persona series,” Wada wrote on social media. “We are working hard to bring you a fresh product that will excite everyone.” He also hinted at more updates to come, encouraging fans to “stay tuned.”
The original Persona 4 received critical acclaim upon its release, with a score of 9/10. It was praised for its deep social link system and dungeon-crawling mechanics. However, despite the release of the enhanced Persona 4 Golden, many fans have long wanted to see the game on the Nintendo Switch. For now, Persona 4 Revival will be available on Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC, and it will be available day-one on Game Pass, offering fans a fresh chance to experience this classic RPG.

Yeah, the dungeons were a major drag in the original. Please just let me date Yosuke, too, thanks. 😅
