- Pixel 12 Pro XL – Silverback
- Pixel 12 Pro – Sasquatch
- Pixel 12 Pro Fold – Capuchin
Interestingly, the Pixel 12 Pro’s codename stands out as ‘Sasquatch,’ a mythical creature, which is a departure from the animal naming trend. However, given the nature of Google’s code-naming system, it’s clear that this approach is meant to capture the attention of fans while also offering a bit of fun.
This early leak is a part of a broader naming tradition for Google’s Pixel devices
. The Pixel 10 series, which is expected to launch in the near future, is named after horses-codenames include Frankel, Blazer, Mustang, and Rango. The Pixel 11 series, expected in 2026, will carry bear-inspired names such as Cubs, Grizzly, Kodiak, and Yogi.
While these codenames often don’t reveal much about the final design or features of the devices, they do provide a glimpse into Google’s internal development process. Moreover, they give fans a fun way to track the progress of the devices, as codenames often appear in Android Open Source Project (AOSP) builds, Geekbench tests, and other leaks.
