Pokémon Champions, the new battle-centric game from The Pokémon Company, unveiled some exciting features in its latest trailer during Pokémon Presents.
The game, which is set to release in 2026, promises a robust training suite aimed at competitive players.
In the latest preview, we got a glimpse into how the game will function, with players able to recruit Pokémon directly in Pokémon Champions or transfer them from Pokémon Home. This will help players build a competitive roster for both Singles and Doubles battles.
One of the standout features introduced in the trailer is the deep customization options for training your Pokémon. Players can now set specific statistical parameters, select movesets, and fine-tune “stat alignments” to optimize their Pokémon for battle. These settings, often referred to in the community as EVs and natures, have long been essential for serious Pokémon trainers looking to maximize their Pokémon’s potential. With the ability to adjust these settings directly in the game, Pokémon Champions seems poised to deliver a smoother, more streamlined experience for competitive play.
Additionally, a new currency called “VP” was introduced, which appears to manage certain aspects of the training system, like adjusting stats. There will also be both Ranked and Private Battles, allowing players to face off against one another in Singles or Doubles formats, with plenty of flashy animations showcasing your Pokémon’s new abilities.
Pokémon Champions is currently scheduled for a 2026 release on Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms, including iOS and Android.
