Pokémon Presents July 2025: Everything Announced

The latest Pokémon Presents event has delivered a thrilling showcase of upcoming content, including exciting games, animations, and a brand-new brain teaser game. Let’s break down all the key announcements!

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

The highly anticipated Pokémon Legends: Z-A is slated to launch on Switch and Switch 2 on October 16, 2025. The game takes players to the vibrant Lumiose City, where Mega Dragonite is among the new and returning Mega Evolutions. Inspired by Dragonair, Mega Dragonite sports wings on its head and a pearl on its tail. These Mega Evolutions will play a crucial role in the story, with Rogue Mega Evolution Pokémon wreaking havoc and needing to be stopped.

You’ll not be alone on this journey; your new team members, including Naveen (a fashion designer) and Lida (a professional dancer), will help you navigate Lumiose City. You’ll also encounter Urbain or Taunie, who will be vital to your story progression. But not all will be friends – the Rust Syndicate, led by the ruthless Corbeau, will challenge you during the Z-A Royale, a high-stakes competition taking place during the city’s nightlife.

Exploration and Side Activities

Daytime gameplay will focus on exploration and building your Pokémon team, while nighttime brings fierce battles and ranking up in the Royale. The city will also feature tons of side activities, including customizing your appearance, and even changing the look of your Pokémon, like Furfrou. You can embark on various side quests too, with characters like detective Emma and the director of the Pokémon Research Lab, Mable.

Pokémon Friends – A New Puzzle Game

On a lighter note, Pokémon Friends, a fun and casual brain teaser game, is available now. This new puzzle game challenges players with Pokémon-themed puzzles, like lighting up Pikachu bulbs, making paths for water, and connecting tracks. By completing puzzles, you can unlock various Pokémon plush items to decorate your virtual room. The game costs $9.99 on Switch, while it’s free-to-start on mobile.

Pokémon Tales – Aardman Animation’s Latest Project

We also got a peek at Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, a stop-motion animated series from the creators of Wallace and Gromit. Expected to release in 2027, this series features an adorable Wooloo trying to enjoy the outdoors while Pichu and Sirfetch’d cause chaos.

Pokémon Champions and Other Updates

The upcoming battle-focused game, Pokémon Champions, will launch in 2026. This game will allow players to bring in their caught Pokémon via Pokémon Home and try out new ones through an extensive recruitment system. Players will engage in Ranked, Casual, and Private Battles, and use Victory Points (VP) to enhance their Pokémon’s abilities. The Pokémon Trading Card Game also announced the Mega Evolution expansion, with new cards featuring Mega Lucario ex, Mega Kangaskhan ex, and more.

Other Pokémon Updates

Other exciting updates include a shiny new 5-Star Tera Raid Battle featuring Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, and Chi-Yu in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as well as special events for Pokémon GO and Pokémon Cafe Remix. In addition, the first-ever permanent outdoor Pokémon attraction, PokéPark Kanto, will soon open in Tokyo, offering fans a unique Pokémon experience.
