Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB Gets Snubbed While Its 16 GB Variant Sells Like Hotcakes

The Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB has seen a steep decline in demand, especially when compared to its 16GB counterpart, which is flying off the shelves. Whether in North America or Europe, the 8GB version of the card is facing significant disinterest due to its subpar pricing.

The trend isn’t exactly new-8GB GPUs have often lagged behind higher VRAM variants-but this time, it’s more pronounced, with the 8GB version being almost completely ignored by consumers.

What’s driving this? It’s clear that consumers are becoming savvier with their choices, prioritizing value for money. Despite boasting 16GB of memory, the Radeon RX 9070 has also struggled to make a significant impact on sales, showcasing that more VRAM alone doesn’t guarantee success. However, the RX 9060 XT 8GB faces an even steeper challenge, whether it’s from AMD or competitors like NVIDIA.

According to the latest sales data from Mindfactory, the 8GB variant of the RX 9060 XT is practically gathering dust, with less than five units sold in an entire week. This is a far cry from the RX 9060 XT 16GB, which has garnered 340 units sold. To put this into perspective, the RX 9070 XT, which had 580 units sold, is still a top performer, while the 8GB RX 9060 XT’s sales barely register. Even the Intel Arc B580, with a similar 8GB memory configuration, outperforms it with 15 units sold, and the RTX 5060, another 8GB GPU, sells 45 units in comparison.

The pricing of the 8GB RX 9060 XT seems to be a major culprit. At $299, it’s only $50 cheaper than the RX 9070 XT, which offers much better performance. When the 16GB edition of the RX 9060 XT only costs $50-$60 more, it’s hard to see why anyone would opt for the 8GB version, especially considering it struggles to run graphically intensive games at max settings on 1440p. On Amazon US, the RX 9060 XT 8GB sees some sales, but it’s far from being a top contender, not even cracking the top 50 in GPU sales.

If you’re on a budget, it might be better to consider the RX 9060 XT 16GB version instead, which offers more value for a small additional price. However, there are also other budget-friendly options worth considering, but none of them come with 8GB of VRAM.
