The Radeon RX 9070 GRE is expanding its reach beyond China, with Hong Kong and Taiwan now set to receive shipments just two months after its initial launch. This swift regional expansion is noteworthy, as the Radeon GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition) cards traditionally see slow distribution outside China, often taking up to a year to reach other parts of the world.
However, the RX 9070 GRE is breaking that pattern, making its way into Taiwan and Hong Kong much sooner than expected.
Launched initially in China, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE is now seeing its debut in Taiwan, with the Sapphire edition expected to hit retail shelves first. Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region of China with its own trade rules and policies, is also getting access to the GRE GPUs sooner than past models. This is an interesting development, as Hong Kong’s export rules typically delay the release of such products.
Felton Distribution, a well-known computer store in Hong Kong, has announced that it will be carrying the ASRock Radeon RX 9070 GRE Steel Legend Dark 12GB OC edition soon. While you won’t easily find the product listed on the ASRock website, it’s already available on the Taiwanese subdomain. ASRock joins ASUS and Sapphire as the third manufacturer to produce the RX 9070 GRE. The Steel Legend Dark edition offers a boosted 2920 MHz clock, 130 MHz higher than the reference edition, and features a triple fan design with dual 8-pin PCIe connectors.
With 3072 Stream Processors and 12 GB of GDDR6 memory, the RX 9070 GRE bridges the gap between the RX 9060 XT and RX 9070, positioning itself similarly to the GeForce RTX 5070. It’s a powerful option for gamers, with 12 GB of VRAM sufficient for most titles at 1440p resolution. However, if you’re looking for more future-proofing, you might want to consider the RX 9070 XT, although it comes at a higher price.
As for its future availability, more regions may see the RX 9070 GRE hit the shelves, but that could still take months. With a price tag under $500, this GPU offers an excellent value for mid-range gaming, outperforming other cards in its class, even if it doesn’t quite match the VRAM of the RX 9060 XT 16 GB or RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB.
