Realme 15 and 15 Pro Launch: Massive Battery, Upgraded Cameras, and No Telephoto in Sight

Realme has shaken up its lineup with the new Realme 15 and 15 Pro, and there’s a lot to unpack – both good and questionable. The Realme 15 Pro, now the successor to the 14 Pro+, gets a serious boost under the hood with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, bringing better sustained performance thanks to a revamped cooling system featuring AirFlow VC.

The display remains a gorgeous 6.8-inch OLED panel, but now boasts a slick 144Hz refresh rate. That buttery-smooth screen is paired with a 7,000 mAh battery – a beast that charges fast at 80W, and Realme claims it’ll retain 80% health after 1,600 cycles. Even with the bigger battery, the phone is slimmer at just 7.69mm.

On the camera front, Realme’s decisions might raise eyebrows. While both rear and front cameras hit 50MP (including a wide and ultrawide on the back), there’s no telephoto lens this time. This is a notable shift considering previous models like the 12 Pro+ had a 64MP periscope – a fan favorite that’s now MIA.

At least the camera software is stepping up: Realme introduces its new AI Edit Genie, available right inside the gallery app for smarter post-processing.

The 15 Pro is available in Flowing Silver, Velvet Green, and Silk Purple. Pricing starts at INR 28,999 (~$335) for the 8GB/128GB model and stretches up to INR 35,999 (~$415) for 12GB/512GB.

The standard Realme 15 keeps many of the same perks – 144Hz OLED screen, AI Edit Genie, and 7,000 mAh battery with 80W charging – but runs on the Dimensity 7300+ chip, which some fans have ironically dubbed the “best MediaTek chip ever.”

Its camera setup is slightly dialed down with an 8MP ultrawide instead of 50MP, but keeps the same 50MP main and selfie shooters. Color choices include Velvet Green, Flowing Silver, and Silk Pink. Prices range from INR 23,999 (~$280) to INR 28,999 (~$335) depending on RAM and storage.

Both phones are up for pre-order now, with full sales starting July 30 at noon in India. The lineup marks an evolution in Realme’s design and performance priorities, though not everyone will be thrilled about the missing telephoto lens.
