Redmi 15 5G is gearing up to make waves with some impressive features that exceed expectations for a budget-friendly phone.
While we’ve seen leaks for the 4G version of the Redmi 15C, the 5G model takes things up a notch with some standout specs.
The phone boasts a large 6.9-inch 1080p+ 144Hz display, a significant upgrade from previous Redmi models, which typically had 720p+ displays. The 144Hz refresh rate is also a welcome improvement, offering smoother visuals than the usual 120Hz we’re used to seeing in this range.
Under the hood, the Redmi 15 5G will be powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, which is a step up from the usual Snapdragon 4-series chips found in its predecessors. Though it’s not cutting-edge, this 6nm processor offers better performance than the typical budget chipsets we see in this price range. The device will also feature up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage, making it more capable of handling multitasking and large files.
One of the most exciting features is the massive 7,000mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims will last for up to two days on a single charge. With only a 33W charging speed, it may take a while to fill the large battery, but at least you won’t need to charge it constantly.
The camera setup is decent, featuring a 50MP main sensor with a 2MP helper camera, plus an 8MP selfie camera. Though the camera system isn’t groundbreaking, it’s enough for everyday photography needs. The addition of NFC support is another plus, especially in markets like Malaysia, where it’s crucial for services like toll payments.
The expected price is around RM 699 to RM 750 (approximately $165-$180), making it an affordable option for those looking for a solid 5G phone. While there’s no official launch date yet, it’s likely that the 4G version, the Redmi 15C, will hit the market soon, with the 5G variant following shortly after.
