Redmi is at it again, and this time it’s the Redmi 15C 5G making waves-though not always for the right reasons.
Despite the confusing naming (don’t mix it up with the Redmi 15 5G or 15C 4G), this upcoming budget phone has a few highlights… and a few head-scratchers.
The leaked specs reveal a massive 6.9-inch LCD screen with a 720×1600 HD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. Yes, you read that right-HD+ on a nearly 7-inch display. Under the hood, it reportedly features 4GB of RAM and comes with 128GB or 256GB of storage. A large 6,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging is also in the mix, and it will launch with Android 15 and Xiaomi’s HyperOS.
The device is expected to debut in August and will likely come in at least two color options, based on early leaks. But let’s not ignore the elephant in the room-4GB RAM in 2025? That’s already sounding like a ticket to Android Go Edition territory, given Google’s RAM requirements for Android 16. Users are already questioning whether Xiaomi’s budget lineup is keeping up with the times or just recycling specs in shiny new shells.
And the confusion around Xiaomi’s naming conventions? That’s a whole different mess. Many fans miss the days when the Redmi lineup was clear: Redmi for basics, Redmi Plus for bigger bodies, and Note/Pro for those who wanted more punch. Now it feels like Xiaomi is flooding the market with near-identical models that do little to stand out from one another.
To sum it up, the Redmi 15C 5G is shaping up to be a phone with decent battery life and 5G support, but with serious compromises on RAM and resolution. It’s too early to pass final judgment, but from what we’ve seen, it feels like Xiaomi is once again betting on quantity over clarity-or quality.
