Redmi K Pad Design Unveiled: A Compact Rival to the iPad Mini

Xiaomi has officially unveiled the design of the Redmi K Pad, a new flagship tablet in the Redmi lineup that aims to challenge the Apple iPad mini. The tablet is powered by the Dimensity 9400+ chipset, the same processor expected to drive the upcoming Galaxy Tab 11 series.

Compared to last year’s Redmi Pad Pro, which was equipped with the mid-range Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, the K Pad offers a significant upgrade in performance.

The K Pad features an 8.8-inch LCD display, making it smaller and more portable than the 12.1-inch Pro model. Xiaomi’s Lu Weibing emphasized that the size is perfect for one-handed use, offering convenience for users who prefer a more compact tablet experience.

According to posts on Weibo, Xiaomi aims to compete directly with the Apple iPad mini. The K Pad boasts impressive display specs, including a rumored 3K+ resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Interestingly, Xiaomi had to use two display driver ICs to handle this high-quality display, although specific details on this aspect remain scarce.

Additional rumored features include 67W fast charging support, but the battery capacity is still unknown. The text next to the camera reads “Gamma Antenna,” though its exact function remains unclear. The K Pad is expected to be priced around CNY 4,000 (approximately $560) and will launch alongside the Redmi K80 Ultra smartphone, which also uses the Dimensity 9400+ chipset.
