Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil two flagship devices in China: the Redmi K80 Ultra and the highly anticipated Redmi K Pad. While official details are being released gradually, WekiHome has already provided a comprehensive breakdown and review of the device, including a detailed disassembly.
Let’s dive into the key features of the upcoming Redmi K Pad tablet.
The Redmi K Pad is equipped with an 8.8-inch IPS LCD display, boasting Dolby Vision support and Dolby Atmos for enhanced audio. The screen’s impressive resolution of 3,008 x 1,880 pixels (16:10 aspect ratio) is complemented by a 165Hz refresh rate and DC dimming, ensuring smooth visuals even in the brightest conditions. In testing, the display reached 566 nits of brightness, and with high brightness mode enabled, it peaked at 610 nits, offering great clarity in direct sunlight.
Designed with portability in mind, the Redmi K Pad features a unibody metal construction with a sandblasted finish, weighing just 336g and measuring only 6.46mm in thickness. This slim design is built for performance in a highly portable package, making it ideal for on-the-go users.
Under the hood, the tablet is powered by the Dimensity 9400+ chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. During performance testing, the tablet showed impressive results, with better cooling than many larger tablets in the market. Xiaomi has included a 12,050mm² vapor chamber to manage heat, transferring it to the metal frame for effective dissipation. Interestingly, the vapor chamber is made from an aluminum alloy instead of the traditional copper, reducing the tablet’s overall weight.
The motherboard is placed strategically along the centerline of the tablet, helping distribute heat evenly across the device. Additionally, the tablet features a dual-cell battery setup with a combined 7,500mAh capacity, split between two cells (3,505mAh and 3,995mAh). A 67W charger is included in the box, although the tablet charges at a maximum of 55W, requiring 61 minutes to go from 1% to a full charge. The device supports bypass charging for uninterrupted use during charging sessions.
For connectivity, the Redmi K Pad features a USB-C port that supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds (5Gbps) and DisplayPort functionality. The tablet also includes dual cameras: a 13MP rear camera (OV13B 1/3.06”) and an 8MP front-facing camera (OV08F 1/4”). However, there is no fingerprint scanner on this model.
Overall, the Redmi K Pad looks like a solid contender in the tablet market, combining powerful internals, a sharp display, and a sleek design in a portable form factor.
