The much-anticipated Redmi K80 Ultra has been reviewed and even disassembled by experts ahead of its official launch in China. Despite the lack of a formal announcement, tech enthusiasts and bloggers across China are already getting their hands on the device, with some providing in-depth first impressions and even complete teardowns of the flagship killer. 
One of the most detailed teardowns came from the popular WekiHome team, who took apart the K80 Ultra to give us a closer look at what to expect from the device.
The Redmi K80 Ultra impresses with its build quality, featuring a fiberglass back with a frosted finish and a quad curved metal frame. The camera island is metal, adding a premium feel to the phone. The front is dominated by a large 6.83-inch LTPS OLED display (FHD+ 144Hz), which boasts symmetrical bezels and is manufactured by TCL. The screen is protected by Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass, ensuring durability. The K80 Ultra weighs in at 223.5 grams, making it a substantial device.
Once the back plate is removed, we get a glimpse of the device’s internals, including the motherboard and a massive thermal pad placed over the battery. Unfortunately, there’s no wireless charging coil here. The thermal pad, which covers an area of 6,800 mm², extends to the top of the speaker assembly, which is next to the dual-camera setup. Additionally, the motherboard has its own set of thermal pads and copper foil, designed to keep the internals cool during heavy usage.
The main camera setup consists of a 50MP primary sensor (OV Light Fusion 800), an 8MP ultrawide camera (OV08F), and a 20MP selfie camera (OV20B). The device also packs a powerful Dimensity 9400+ chipset, 12GB of Micron LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB of Samsung UFS 4.1 storage, ensuring smooth performance for gaming and multitasking. For audio, the K80 Ultra comes with AAC 1115 coaxial stereo speakers, which offer an immersive sound experience, and features a high-end X-axis linear vibration motor (CSA0916C), contributing to a more tactile feel during interactions.
The teardown also reveals the device’s impressive 7,410mAh battery, which is paired with Xiaomi’s Hyper G1 battery management chip, designed to optimize performance and battery longevity.
