Rematch Breaks Records with 1 Million Players, Sloclap Fixes Network Issues

Sloclap’s latest football game, Rematch, has officially launched and in an impressive display, it reached a milestone of 1 million unique players within the first 24 hours. Initially available only for early access buyers, the game has now made its way to a wider audience.

Players were excited, but even more so when Sloclap rolled out a hotfix addressing some of the game’s initial hiccups.

Patch 0.5, which is available for download across all platforms, includes a fix for the ball syncing issue where the ball would hit the post and not stay in sync with other players. Although Sloclap mentioned that ball sync issues may still happen under certain conditions, the hotfix brings much-needed improvements to the network stability, netcode, and matchmaking systems. These changes should lead to better queue times, which were a pain point for many players.

On one hand, Rematch had a stellar launch, hitting over 1 million unique players, with Steam alone seeing a peak of 92,841 concurrent players. On the other hand, it wasn’t without its share of bugs and frustrations, especially with long queue times. Sloclap has been transparent about these issues and has prioritized addressing them. Top of the list is the addition of crossplay support, which was noticeably missing at launch. This absence came as a disappointment to players, as Sloclap had only announced hours before the early access launch that crossplay wouldn’t be available at launch. The team has since apologized for not informing players sooner and is working to get the feature in as quickly as possible.
