Rematch Launches Without Cross-Play Support – Fans Disappointed

Sloclap’s anticipated soccer game, Rematch, is gearing up for a full release on Thursday, June 19, 2025, following a wildly successful beta that saw over 1.9 million players across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. But just an hour before early access went live, the developer dropped some disappointing news: cross-play won’t be available at launch.

“Crossplay between Steam, PlayStation & Xbox won’t be available at launch,” Sloclap confirmed on X.

“But it’s one of our top priorities for upcoming updates! We’ll share an ETA as soon as possible.”

In a follow-up post, the studio added, “We aimed to have it ready for launch but couldn’t quite make it. We’re actively working on it.”

While early access players are already diving in, the timing of the announcement has stirred up frustration, especially among those who paid extra for the early experience. Many fans feel blindsided, as the update came moments before servers went live.

Making things worse, players are reporting widespread server issues, further dampening the launch hype. Lag, matchmaking problems, and connection drops have already hit social media, with many hoping these problems don’t spiral when the game opens to all players on Thursday.

Still, Sloclap seems determined to get things right. If they can fix the server problems and deliver on the cross-play update soon, Rematch might still turn things around and live up to its promising beta success.
