Remedy Entertainment has come forward with a frank admission that not everything has gone as planned for the launch of FBC: Firebreak, its new multiplayer spin-off from Control. Released on June 17, the game has already garnered a ‘mixed’ rating on Steam, with players expressing frustration over several key aspects of the game.

In response, Remedy outlined plans to address these issues and improve the overall player experience.

The developer acknowledged that the launch period has been both exciting and challenging, with the team receiving “loud and clear” feedback from players. “It’s clear that there are features that need to improve, and we will improve them,” Remedy said. While some fixes can be rolled out quickly, others will require more time and careful consideration. The company committed to keeping players updated every step of the way as it works to make the game better.

One of the main problems identified by Remedy is the “first hour experience.” Players have reported issues with the game’s onboarding process, as well as unclear systems and tools. Remedy admitted that the starting weapons feel weak and that unlocking higher-tier weapons takes too long, leading to a less-than-satisfying early gameplay experience. To address these issues, Remedy plans to improve onboarding and user-interface clarity, and to make Jobs (the game’s missions) more accessible. New players will no longer need to play through the first two Clearance Levels of each Job, and they’ll start with a more substantial “full three-zone Hot Fix Job run.” The company is also working on speeding up progression and unlocking gear more quickly.

While these changes are just the beginning, Remedy is committed to making broader improvements based on player feedback. “There’s a lot of fun to be had wrangling erratic monsters in Remedy’s spectacularly absurd bureaucratic setting,” said IGN’s review in progress. The developer also confirmed plans for future content, with two new Jobs planned for 2025 and more updates in 2026. All post-launch content, such as Jobs, will be free to all players, though cosmetics will be available for purchase. Remedy emphasized that these cosmetic items will not affect gameplay, and there will be no limited-time rotations or daily log-ins.

Despite the challenges, Remedy remains focused on its ambitious slate of projects, including the highly anticipated Control 2 and remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2. Fans will have to wait and see how FBC: Firebreak evolves, but Remedy has made it clear that it’s committed to improving the game in the weeks and months ahead.

I played it for like 2 hours. It just aint fun simple as that. You can tell the game is unfinished because the matchmaking doesn’t work unless you click ‘go solo’ and it’s not even solo you get other people joining
