Resident Evil Survival Unit: A Global Multiplayer Strategy Game Featuring Classic Characters

Resident Evil Survival Unit is the latest spin-off in the iconic Resident Evil franchise, designed specifically for mobile phones. Developed by Aniplex, this game is set in a parallel universe where players form a team of classic Resident Evil characters – including Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, and Barry Burton – to battle zombies and other monstrous threats.

The game, which promises to deliver a global multiplayer experience, is set to launch later this year on iPhone and Android devices.

Unlike the main series, Resident Evil Survival Unit’s gameplay revolves around building up a base inside a mansion, where your characters will interact and prepare for missions. Players will venture out into survival missions, taking on hordes of familiar enemies from the Resident Evil universe. While the real-time defense battles are currently single-player, Aniplex promises that players will be able to connect and compete in real-time across the globe, creating an interactive and competitive global community.

The game starts with the player character recovering from the effects of being a test subject for the Umbrella Corporation. From there, you’ll recruit well-known heroes like Leon, Jill, Claire, and Barry, along with more obscure characters such as Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak, and Becca Woolett from Resident Evil: Resistance. Fans of Resident Evil 2 will also find the inclusion of Marvin Branagh, a tragic figure in the series, adding depth to the roster.

Despite all these familiar faces, the storyline in Resident Evil Survival Unit is a non-canon addition to the franchise. This means there will be no tie-ins or spoilers for upcoming titles, like Resident Evil Requiem. It’s clear that Aniplex is creating a fresh experience, leaning more into strategy and multiplayer mechanics rather than an intricate narrative.

Resident Evil Survival Unit promises to blend mobile gaming with the intense survival horror that fans know and love. Whether you’re upgrading characters by purchasing items from the iconic Resident Evil Merchant or fighting off the undead, this title offers a unique take on the franchise, catering to fans of both strategy games and Resident Evil lore.
