Resident Evil: Survival Unit Brings Strategic Horror to Mobile Devices

Capcom has unveiled Resident Evil: Survival Unit, a bold new entry in the franchise tailored for mobile platforms.

Slated for a full reveal on July 10, 2025, this upcoming real-time strategy game promises a unique twist on the iconic horror universe.

Jointly developed by Joycity and Aniplex in collaboration with Capcom, Survival Unit will launch on both iOS and Android, with a global release confirmed across North America, Europe, Japan, South Korea, and broader Asia.

While diehard fans might initially bristle at another mobile spin-off, there’s a major reason to pay attention: Shinji Hashimoto, co-creator of the Kingdom Hearts series, is helming the project. Hashimoto announced the game during Anime Expo Lite, describing it as a labor of love he’s long wanted to bring to mobile gamers.

“This title offers a fresh take on the Resident Evil universe,” he said. “It introduces a strategy game system built specifically for mobile, yet maintains the core tension and lore the franchise is known for.”

Though it veers from traditional survival horror gameplay, Resident Evil: Survival Unit could offer fans a surprising new way to engage with familiar characters and settings – if the monetization doesn’t ruin it first.
