Samsung fans hoping to get their hands on One UI 8 for the Galaxy S25 will have to wait a little longer. Despite the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 launching with One UI 8 pre-installed, Samsung is still fine-tuning the software for the S25 lineup.
Although the Android 16-based interface promises smarter AI, refined performance, and upgrades to DeX, Good Lock modules, Now Brief, and the Now Bar, it’s clear the company isn’t ready to push the stable version out just yet.
Since May, Galaxy S25 users enrolled in the beta program have received updates every couple of weeks. However, it’s been a month since the third beta dropped, leaving many to assume the final release was around the corner. Instead, Samsung has announced that beta 4 is coming next week, acknowledging the delay and apologizing to users while stressing the importance of stability.
Interestingly, a fresh build of One UI 8 has also surfaced on Samsung’s test servers for Galaxy S24 units in the US and Canada, suggesting a broader rollout is being prepared.
While polishing the update is appreciated-no one wants buggy firmware-it’s hard to ignore the growing chaos in Samsung’s release cadence. One UI 7’s rollout was similarly murky, with schedules being shuffled mid-way. Now, just half a year later, One UI 8 is already out on some devices but not others, leaving users scratching their heads.
In contrast, Apple’s update cycle remains methodical. New iOS versions are announced during WWDC and ship with new iPhones each fall, creating a dependable rhythm. Samsung, however, seems to be favoring flexibility over predictability, which might not sit well with users wanting clarity on when their devices will get the latest features.
