Samsung is gearing up to expand its budget-friendly lineup with the upcoming Galaxy A17, the successor to the Galaxy A16.
While it’s not a flagship killer, the A17 could be a solid option for users who want dependable performance without burning a hole in their wallets.
The Galaxy A17 was recently spotted on Finland’s SGS Fimko certification site, giving us a sneak peek into its specs. The most notable reveal? A 5,000 mAh battery-matching its predecessor-ensuring all-day usage. Technically, the certification lists a 4,860 mAh unit, but this typically rounds up to a 5,000 mAh rating.
Another confirmed feature is 25W wired charging, a carryover from the A16. So, while the charging speed remains unchanged, it’s a welcome inclusion in this price range.
But there’s at least one meaningful upgrade. The Galaxy A17 is tipped to include optical image stabilization (OIS) for its main camera-something the A16 lacked. This means better photo clarity, especially in low light or motion-heavy situations.
As for regions, the Galaxy A17 is expected to launch across the United States, Europe, and South Korea, based on multiple model numbers (SM-A176B/DS, SM-A176B, SM-A176U, SM-A176U1, SM-A176N) revealed through certifications.
Besides that, the rest of the specs might not deviate much from the A16, which came with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, options for Exynos 1380 or Dimensity 6300 chipsets, and up to 8GB RAM with 256GB storage (expandable via microSD).
With an expected price point near the A16’s $200 tag, the Galaxy A17 could become a go-to pick in the affordable mid-range segment, especially for users wanting a long-lasting battery and a steady camera upgrade.
